Class Cancellations in March

DanceWell PDX Schools  —    Covid 19 Cancellations  —  and Temporary Class Formats

In effort to keep everyone well and feeling safer we have cancelled March classes temporarily.   DanceWell classes usually follow the school district closures anyway, and partnering may not be in folks’ best interest right now. 😊

However, we have different options for restarting March classes and we are planning various different class formats for April as well.  I’VE DESIGNED SOME SURVEY QUESTIONS SO WE WILL GET AN IDEA OF WHAT OUR STUDENTS WOULD LIKE FOR THE TEMPORARY FORMAT

What format you would like the classes to be?

  1. Keep everyone solo, learning good technique and movement, syncopations and styling with NO CONTACT or partnering.
  2. Keep your one regular partner throughout the classes – no changing of partners during classes at all.
  3. Wait until the virus threat is over
  4. WHAT DANCES would you like taught with these new temporary formats ?

😊 and we are also offering Private lesson appointments in the Beaverton and Parkrose locations for $65 during the months of March and April [Our regular rate is $75-$79 — *Note there may be time limitations on this rate]

Detect Scammer Emails easy

💭   How can I tell if emails are malicious emails?  Use the “Second to the Last Dot” rule.

>>>  PAY ATTENTION to your emails.  Malicious scammer emails are getting trickier and even more aggressive than in past, using bank names, credit cards and government agencies and scare tactics.

BE WISE –Check the return email or link address. “The “real” site is revealed by what comes between the second-to-last dot and the first slash. Scammers can’t fake this part.  For example: the URL https://microsoft.login.com.x.co doesn’t go to microsoft.com or microsoft.login.com – it goes to .x.co ”

ALSO never use any links or phone numbers in any questionable email or text that’s using any type of scare tactics. Rather find the business on the web and use the real phone numbers and links found there for real info.

Health Notes March 2020: Protect yourself – Protect others

>>> 💭 Health note:  PROTECT YOURSELF – PROTECT OTHERS at classes and events you may attend.

Here are some common sense actions

*Wash hands for 20 secs on arrival and when leaving [enough time to sing the happy birthday song 2x].  

No touching your face.

Washing hands every now and again during events and definitely after a cough or a sneeze…

Plan to STAY HOME IF ILL.

**Note that if the ballrooms smell a little “cleanser-ish” its because we are wiping commonly used surfaces every day. .

>>> 📢 If you have any hand sanitizer to spare we’d love if you’d donate 1 or 2 to one of the ballrooms so we don’t run out.

Note for November:  No classes on Wednesday Nov. 27.  Happy Thanksgiving on November 28th.

DECEMBER CALENDAR WILL BE ONLINE SOON!  New classes will begin on December 1st — this will be a short month due to holidays, so check the calendar.  Want to request a certain dance? email Linda

COME DANCE WITH US in the beautiful Aloha Grange!
Park in the Big Lots parking lot — the Grange is a free-standing building between Tualatin Valley Hwy and Alexander St. on 185th.

Tigard studio Closing July 2019

Many of you are asking about the Tigard studio, Ballroom Dance Company closing date…. We are sorry to say that the rumors are true and the beautiful building has been sold, not for a dance studio.

The posted closing date is July 28, 2019.  At this time the new owners are unknown and it is unknown whether there will be limited dance space for classes/lessons. Most of our DanceWell west-side classes have been moved to Beaverton/Aloha @ the Aloha Grange; however we are looking for space to teach our Tigard classes and hold private appointments.

TIGARD DANCES NOTES
2nd SATURDAYS: JUNE 8 & JULY 13
THURSDAYS WEEKLY.  Be sure to check the DanceWell calendar for when Thursday dances in Tigard will end.  The plan is to switch to Sunday night dances in the Beaverton location.
